Step 1: Verify Eligibility

3) High school diploma or GED
4) Valid driver’s license
5) Drug screen test may be required
Step 2: Apply
- Submit application at local union office weekdays 0730-1100 and 1300-1500
- Provide diploma/transcripts/GED, DD-214, and I-9 Documents: driver’s license, and birth certificate or social security card
Applicant Pool
- Placed in pool of eligible applicants
- Attend orientation
- Complete interview
- Ranked based on interview, testing, work experience, and training
Step 3: Start with local 1
Wages
- Start at 50% of current journeyperson’s rate for Finishers.
- Increase to 80% of journeyperson’s rate after 500 hours of on-the-job training (approx. 3 months) plus required schooling.
- Full 100% journeyperson’s pay for Finisher after completing the program.
Apprentices continuing in further training
- Gain 5-10% pay increase after every 1,000-3,000 hours of on-the-job training (approx. 6-18 months) plus required schooling.
- Full 100% respective journeyperson’s pay after completing the program.
Starting Hourly Pay:
$13.05 + Benefits + Optional Housing Allowance

- Attend 8-week pre-apprenticeship class
- 4 years with at least 6,000 hours on-the-job training
- Minimum of 160 hours of education each year
- Pointer, Cleaner, Caulker
- 4 years with at least 6,000 hours on-the-job training
- Minimum of 144 hours of education each year
- Tile, Terrazzo, Marble Finisher
- Attend 4-week pre-apprenticeship class
- 2½ years with at least 4,500 hours on-the-job training
- Minimum of 144 hours of education each year
- Upon completion of Tile, Terrazzo, Marble Finisher training apprentice is able to continue training as:
Marble Mason
- Requires cumulative of 4 years with at least 6,000 hours on-the-job training
- Minimum of 144 hours of education each year
Tile Setter or Terrazzo Worker
- Requires cumulative of 4 years with at least 7,000 hours on-the-job training
- Minimum of 144 hours of education each year
